Kickboxing originated in America in the early seventies. It was a mixture of Karate and boxing developed by the top Karate fighters in America to compete with the Thai Boxers from Thailand in full contact fighting tournaments. Kickboxing is an extremely good way to get in shape as the training methods are similar to a high intensity workout. Stamina, determination, self-discipline focus and timing are amongst a few of the qualities that are developed whilst training. SAMA Kickboxing has taken the most effective kicking techniques from kung fu and the devastating hand techniques from western boxing to develop its kickboxing syllabus. Advanced students also learn knife disarms and trap and lock techniques.There are no forms or patterns to learn, no intricate hand movements, only pure fighting skills which is why we believe this is a fantastic sport but also ideal for self defence.Students can also take part in tournaments from semi contact and light continuous to full contact kickboxin bouts.
